Roulette is one of the most entertaining and well-loved games in casinos both online and land based, easily identifiable by its spinning wheel.
It is also one of those games that even a beginner could learn in just a few minutes. The concept of a round of roulette is quite simple: you simply place your bets, wait for the wheel to be spun, and see what number the ball stopped at.
The game has two main components. First the roulette wheel itself. It has pockets with numbers randomly placed in each pocket. These slots are correspondingly painted with alternating red and black colors. The American version of the roulette wheel has 38 slots: a double zero and the numbers 0 to 36. On the other hand, the European version has 0 to 36, having a total of only 37 slots.
The second component is the roulette table layout. This is the area where bets are made and chips are placed to represent these bets. It has an inside betting area with all the numbers and their colors, and an outside betting area where you can bet for red or black, odd or even, or a set of numbers.
In Roulette, you can bet on as many outcomes as you want. It is important however, to be aware of all the various possibilities and combinations available.
Let us take the European roulette as an example. Players could place a straight-up bet on any of the numbers from 0 through 36, and the payoff for this would be 35 to 1, with a 37 to 1 chance of winning.
It is also possible to place a bet on any two numbers as long as they are right beside each other. If you look at a roulette layout, you could bet on 1 and 2 or 1 and 4 which are right beside each other on the layout. This split bet pays 17 to 1, with a 19 to 1 chance of winning. It is also possible to bet by rows, like 1, 2, and 3 which would pay 11 to 1 (11.667 to 1 chances of winning).
Furthermore you could bet by columns like 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, and 34 which could win you twice the amount you place. This type of bet has 2.167 to 1 chance of winning. Players could also bet on four numbers that meet at a corner like 1, 2, 4, and 5, with a 8.5 to 1 chance of wining. The winning payout for this would be 8 to 1.
For outside bets as seen on the layout, you could bet on either the first, second or third group of numbers and this would give you a 2 to 1 payout with a 2.167 to 1 chance of winning
You could also bet on either red or black and odd or even, both with 1 to 1 payout rate, while offering the best odds: 1.111 to 1. You could also choose on betting on half of the numbers like 1 to 18 or 19 to 36 with the same payout rate and odds of winning.
Yes nowadays there is nothing easier than a quick game of online roulette or two, and the fun is only one click away.
